Club Night
Tue Nov 11, 2025 7:30pm
At the Old Ferry Boat Inn as usual.
Tonight, we will be having a Fish and Chip supper to mark the occasion of the 80th Remembrance Day since the end of World War II.
Why Fish and Chips?
Fish and chips were not rationed during World War II because the British government recognised the dish as a vital source of morale for the population. It was seen as a comforting and affordable meal that helped people cope with the hardships of wartime, and keeping it readily available was considered important for public sentiment.
Prime Minister Winston Churchill famously referred to fish and chips as "the good companions," highlighting their importance to the nation's well-being.
Sign up for this event at the next club night.
