It was with great sadness that we heard of the sudden death of Graham Pallant
on 29th August.
Graham was a staunch supporter of the club and husband of our secretary, Denise. Graham had been poorly for a while but his death came as a real shock and we send our condolences to Denise and her sons, Jonathon and Daniel, sister Carole, who is the Club’s membership secretary, and brother Mervyn.
The photo below shows Denise and Graham at Kimbolton in 2005. Graham was an avid golf fan and the mini-telly kept him up to date with the British Open as he relaxed with other club members at the show. He always had a twinkle in his eye and will be sadly missed.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: CHANGE OF CLUB VENUE
We are moving our next three Friday meetings to the Longstanton Sports and Social Club with a view to a permanent move if the venue satisfies our requirements.
DIRECTIONS TO LONGSTANTON SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB

After about 1 mile, take first exit at new roundabout, sign posted Longstanton, onto new Longstanton bypass. After a further 1 mile, take second exit into Longstanton village. After 200 yards, turn sharp right into the Longstanton Sports and Social club.
From Ely, Earith and the North take B1050 towards Bar Hill. About 1 mile after entering Longstanton village, and adjacent to a new housing development turn right at mini-roundabout. After 200 yards, turn left into the Longstanton Sports and Social club. The car park usually has plenty of spaces. If it’s full, then street parking is available on Spiggots Close.

The Unicorn has been refurbished and we are to lose the use of the back room
for our themed evenings unless we change to a Monday night. The landlord
is very supportive of the Club, however, and is happy that we continue to
meet for noggin’ ‘n’ natters so you will see from the events
page that we have rescheduled the evening meetings. We would like to find
a suitable venue with a club room that we could use, so if you know of a
pub, village hall, British Legion or other such facility that would be glad
to have us on a Friday each month for a modest fee let anyone on the committee
know. Requirements are: separate room, bar, food (if possible), easy access
from A14, M11, A10 and a large car park – we don’t want much,
do we?! Denise is putting together a questionnaire which will be issued at
our next club night (3 August) and you are invited to give your thoughts.
